Tyler Dinsdale
Tyler Dinsdale - Owner and Senior Trip Leader
Tyler was born and raised in Quesnel, BC, and grew up canoeing and kayaking in the many rivers around. In 1999 Tyler graduated from Big Canyon Rafting's River Guide School and began his career in whitewater. For the next decade, rafting took Tyler around the globe working summers rafting in Canada and winters overseas in places like Australia, New Zealand, Turkey and Africa. He has a wealth of experience in all aspects of rafting, working as a trip leader on day trips from Class 1 to Class 5 whitewater and also leading many multi-day expeditions, most notably in Canada's North. Tyler is a Swiftwater Rescue Instructor, BCROA River Guide Examiner, and also works as a Paramedic for BC Ambulance. He lives in Quesnel with his wife, his three sons and the family dog. They often get out on the water all together.

Jake Erickson
Jake Erickson - Senior Trip Leader
Jake hails from Campbell River originally and began his rafting career on Vancouver Island. Once he made it to the mainland he really started to explore, working in the Fraser Canyon, the Cariboo-Chilcotin and up North in the Yukon and Alaska. Now Jake's permanent address is Quesnel BC, and he leads our Day Trips and our Expeditions. As an added bonus, he is the first person we have met who finds the annual re-wiring the trailer actually fun! (perhaps minus a few of the nasty June mosquitoes.

Alene Lees
Alene Lees - Senior Guide
Alene has this whole work/play thing down pat. In the winters, she is a doctor working locums all over northern BC. But once those rivers start flowing in the spring, she can be found driving around BC and Alberta, paddling the best rivers and paddling festivals these provinces have to offer. Occasionally we can entice Alene to settle down for a week and raft with us, and it is always an awesome time when she does!

Shannon McCarty
Shannon McCarty - Senior Guide
Hailing from Whistler, BC, we are lucky to have Shannon up for some of our larger trips each year. Shannon's work ethic, excellent river skills, and great sense of humour make her an awesome fit within the Big Canyon Rafting family! She has done extensive kayaking and rafting throughout North America, one of her favourite trips being a two week Grand Canyon rafting expedition trip a few years back. Shannon is a great asset to all our river trips, and we are stoked to have her back whenever she can make it!

Dave LaChapelle - Raft Guide
Also fondly referred to as "That Super Stoked French Canadian Guy", Dave will rock in and rock out for some of our larger trips. Dave is famous for his backflips, big smile, and great attitude on and off the river. He is especially popular on our multi-day trips as he is a professionally trained chef, who brings river cuisine to the next level. Dave splits his time between Canada and Africa, working on rivers, and as a professional photographer. |
